Prongs thin down with years of daily wear — that\'s inevitable, not a sign of poor quality. Retipping rebuilds the prong tip with new metal, restoring the original height and grip before the stone is at risk. We inspect every prong under a microscope, identify which ones need attention, and retip them individually so you\'re not paying to rebuild prongs that are still fine.

WHEN PRONGS NEED RETIPPING?

Annual inspection is the best way — we catch it before it's visible to the eye. Signs to watch for at home: the stone wiggles slightly when tapped, or you can see the tip of the prong is visibly flattened or missing.

TYPICALLY NEED WORK?

On a ring worn daily for 5-10 years, usually 1-3 prongs need retipping. We retip only the ones that need it — no charge for inspecting the others.

DOES RETIPPING TAKE?

2-3 business days in most cases. We re-polish the retipped prongs to match the surrounding metal and do a final microscope inspection before returning the piece.
